Creativity Unlocked

In a discussion in Edinburgh conversation I heard a comment that it will be creativity and empathy that will take us through this difficult time of pandemic.

It is the creativity that has helped me to move forward. I was introduced to zoom by going to an artist’s meeting and following that in collaboration with poet and /visual artist Ali Harwood we produced our first project with zoom Splash. This was made with an award for the Refugee Arts Festival in Liverpool organised by Sola Arts in partnership with Liverpool city council. Splash

The artistic director Bisakha joined a ten week long online course on Nine states of being (Navarasa) set up by Akash Odera Dance company. It was attracted over 80 participants from all over the world and was led by an amazing range of young artists with a fresh out look on the subject. Supported by Kalithas Chandrasegaram  Bisakha made a short video on the mood of Laughter (Hasya) which was used to promote Pulse magazine’s Disco from the Kitchen event. Laughter

To mark the publication of Artists in our time, The National Association of Arts in Care homes, contacted Bisakha, one of the featured artists and invited her to take part in the celebration of The Arts in care home Day. With support from Anchor Care homes and NAPA, 47 care homes from all over the country took part in Chaturangan’s zoom dance session with live music by Chris Davies.

“Bisakha’s session was really great – one of my highlights of the day. I found it enjoyable personally but also useful to see how these type of online Zoom activity sessions might work in the coming months, keeping artists in work and providing much needed stimulation and support for care home residents and staff”. Alison Teader, Program Director Arts in care homes, NAPA

Liverpool Community Spirit, a multi-faith organisation in Liverpool delivered a training program for online story telling for community groups. As a part of the training course we made a short video Just Another Click.

The director of Chaturangan was one of the speakers in Arts 4 Dementia Best Practice conference 2021: Arts for Brain Health, Social Prescribing as Diagnostic Practice for Dementia.
